Tony Brazzio, part-owner of Club Raven in Baltimore, is gifted with a psychic talent that allows him to influence the behavior of others. His first project, to rehabilitate hoodlums Bull and Dandy, fails when the lure of fat wallets ripe for the picking is too great for them to ignore. After Bull and Dandy fall into serious trouble beyond simple petty theft, Tony takes it upon himself to bail them out.
Charged with making a pair of blackmailing pickpockets “disappear,” Detective Thomas Arthur Clare is determined to get the job done. He doesn’t count on Tony’s interference, or his attraction to the mysterious, handsome man, to sway him.
This is the second book in the Club Raven series – a historical BDSM paranormal/fantasy M/M series. Basically, it’s gone way out of its way to be everything unusual under the sun. In this book, we meet Tony who is plotting the future of two hoodlums, Dandy and Bull – so he can prove that anyway is capable of pulling themselves up from poverty into the affluent world.
From the very beginning, this book is a complete mess. The characters are extremely bland, it’s hard to keep them (and their talents) straight because they talk exactly alike. There is a complete lack of any real relationships or love story – it’s just four men that are sorta into each other and all have Club Raven in common for different reasons. We follow two of them along their ridiculous adventures as thieves and blackmailers to then immediately be bestowed trust from Tony – it just made no sense.
The club seemed very different than the first book – where walls would move all of the time, and there wasn’t a single mention of that (or any of the other weird occurrences and people) from the first in the series. Skip this book, skip the series.
