Rodney Mansfield is tiny, flamboyant and, oh yeah, a black belt in karate. He is also one of southern California’s greatest artists. Too bad the work of art he really wants is firefighter, Hunter Fallon. But the gorgeous “straight gay” guy could never want the Runtback of Notre Dame, so when Rodney’s handsome, surfer friend, Jerry, develops an unexpected passion for the beautiful firefighter, Rodney breaks his own heart by helping Jerry land his man. And then Rod makes it worse by embarrassing Hunter when he protects him from a firehouse bully. Hunter hates gay guys like Rodney – doesn’t he? Then why can’t he get the powerful pipsqueak’s face out of his mind… and cock out of his ass? And why does he risk his job and his life to rescue Rod from a burning building? Isn’t it time for him to admit he’s not an alpha male after all and that he is the property of the artist?
This is the second book in the Balls to the Wall series and I did enjoy this one better than the first. Rodney is an over the top artist who paints naked men. I think that is the best occupation I have read in a book so far. Loved it. He is who he is and not afraid to show it. He is a popular artist and has great friends. He is also a black belt in karate and can take care of himself though he doesn’t look like it. Rodney sees Hunter and he thinks he is the most gorgeous men he has ever seen.
Hunter is a gorgeous firefighter. He is a total alpha man who likes his men the same way. Being a firefighter is not wanted he wanted to do with his life but found himself being what his family wanted.
When he meets Rodney, he isnt impressed with his out and proud nature. Hunter loves Rodney’s painting but finds himself dating one of Rodney’s best friends. Rodney helps his friend talk to Hunter but Hunter knows that it is Rodney. Once they get to know each other, Hunter feels the heat between the two of them. Rodney get to paint Hunter and things really go from there. Hunter isnt what he seems to be and Rodney lets him feel free to be who is really is. There isnt any angst in the story but it worked. These 2 are opposites but find they have alot in common. After a incident where Rodney gets hurt, Hunter realizes he has to make changes to his life to be happy. I think the chemistry between Hunter and Rodney is great. They just worked so well together and once you find the story , you will find that Rodney was really the Alpha all the time…Really like how Tara tells a story , you root for her characters from the beginning. Cant wait for book 3.
