**4.5 Real Raw Stars**
I have read this entire series and this book from page one is a really hard and truthful read. I give applause to the author for this book. Many people don’t talk about it or they just sugar coat it, then place a band-aid. Or there is the blame game. She did not. She hit the nail on the head. It’s gritty, raw and real. It’s an emotional book from both the main character points of view. I was on the rollercoaster with them. I was fearful in reading this book. I wanted to read it but knew nothing knowing about it. I even talked about it to a friend, telling her it was a hard limit for me when I found out. I am so glad I gave it the chance. Goalie is settling so deep within me. It crushed me at times, but so worth the read. This is not like the other books in the series.
Mariana and Santos have been together for ten years. They were college sweethearts. She was there for him his entire career so thus far. She went to his soccer games as was his number one supporter. The book opens up with the devastating realization that her husband has a secret. The love of her life, her best friend, her everything.
In this book, they face the ugly truth, when confronted Santos lies. What else can he do? Then when Mari doesn’t except that, Santos has nothing left but to tell the hard, ugly, truth, that yes, he cheated on her. He world then crumbles. This is a different take on it.The thing is Santos loves her and doesn’t want to expose her to his dirty side. When it hits the fan we get to see them be there for their children and put them first in all of it. Santos isn’t really a bad guy. Yes, he cheated but he still is a good guy and great father. Just a lousy husband. I know that sounds bad, but it is the truth. Mari gave up her hobbies to support Santos and be a stay at home mom. Mari then has to make some tough choices.
This is the story of love and betrayal and the journey to bring them back together or be apart forever. Every time I read a book, I am almost always wanting our couple together. I haven’t found a book yet that has thoroughly had me rooting for them, then wanting them to not make it, then want them together again, until now. Join Santos and Mari along with some good friends, and some not so good, for their ups and downs, good and bad.
