Scars are tattoos with better stories…
A scarred, lonely woman
A curious little boy
One uninvited, tattooed guest
A nasty blizzard
A set of handcuffs
What could possibly go wrong?
Mela McKinley fled with her infant son and disappeared four years ago trying to heal the awful scars inside and out. Taking refuge in the mountains of Colorado, not one person had come near their secluded doorstep… though she was prepared for a fight.
In the middle of a historic blizzard, little Beck points out the window to a figure approaching in the snow. After hiding Beck…and fully armed, Mela confronts Jackson Winslow and has zero reservations about shooting him, if necessary.
Ultimately, saving him from the forces of nature, she takes the uninvited stranger prisoner in her home holding the upper hand. While cautiously tending to him, she realizes how much she has missed a man—though this scarred and tattooed man is not who he seems. Once he has invaded her thoughts in a delicious way, her guard is down and suddenly, the tables are turned and now…it’s his turn.
What she doesn’t know is who he really is and what he brings to her doorstep.
**4.5 Blizzard Loving Stars**
This is my first book by this author, but will not be my last. I loved this book hard. So emotional. I felt everything in this book. The pace was good the writing was spot on, the plot was gripping and had me from the first page.
When this book opens, Mela McKinley has it all. She has an adoring husband, who loves her with his whole heart. and a beautiful baby boy that is her world. Ian’s her rock, her glue, he picked her up when she was at her lowest. The tragedy happens and her world tilts on its axis. She gets help in the least likely of ways, when her mother in law, the state senator threatens to take away her last reason for living. She hasn’t spoken to her identical twin sister Ari in years. With the help of Ari and Ari’s boyfriend Rock, she does what is necessary to survive.
Mela and Beck have been alone for the last four years when out of nowhere someone comes upon their little mountain hideaway. Seeing as she never has anyone up there, she is on guard. We then meet Jackson. He is stumbling is the snow. He has a fever and appears to be injured. Jackson is running. He has his own secrets too. He is a single male, somewhat of a playboy and doesn’t want to get married or have a family. It’s the last thing on his mind. After caring for him and seeing him with her son Beck, her walls around her heart and mind start to crumble. Jackson is a sexy, alpha male. He has a huge heart and he wants Mela to trust him. Like I said she is guarded and afraid of what can happen. Did I mention he’s a United States Attorney? Well, that could pose a small problem.
The secondary people and Beck are awesome. I loved Rock, Layne, and Beck. Beck will just steal your heart. I didn’t get a lot of Ari, and I am hoping there will be more. She is the reason Mela was the way she was.
This book shows how we all have scars. Some on the inside and some outside. None of them more important than the other. It shows fighting to get back on your feet, to be strong on the inside and out, both physically and emotionally. It’s about courage from within, about growth, trust and most of all, it’s about love in all forms. If you books that will tug at your heartstrings, plus strong alpha males read this book. You will not be disappointed.
