Outside Collin Fitzpatrick’s dorm room is a dangerous place. Beyond his door the students of his small, conservative college think he’s straight, as does his Catholic family who’d disown him if they learned the truth. Inside, he’s safe with his incredibly sexy roommate Tanner D’Amico. Their room makes a perfect place to hide away and fall in love. The moment they cross the line from roommates to lovers, Collin becomes caught between their heavenly passionate encounters and the hellish reality that someone might find out and destroy everything. Tanner’s not used to being so confined, and wants to show the world how much he loves Collin. But Collin’s not sure he’s ready for the impact stepping outside will make.
When it comes to sex scenes and chemistry, some authors fail miserably and others do it really swell. KS totally nails it (pardon the pun) every time. A large proportion of this book centres around the sexual awakening of Collin as he comes to terms with his feelings for his college roommate, Tanner. The story starts as it means to go on with Collin pretending to be asleep when Tanner arrives back in their room for his usual Monday night hook-up with his girlfriend Wendy – except that this time, there’s no Wendy but there is a heart-stoppingly spectacular show which is straight out of every one of Collin’s wet dreams. He’s so mesmerised, he just can’t look away from the sight. It’s one of the hottest scenes I’ve read so far.
The pair have shared a room for quite some time, both men thinking the other is ‘straight’ and the discovery that this is not the case leads to a very interesting relationship. Collins upbringing by an incredibly catholic mother has left him with many mental barriers which create a divide and prevent him from embracing his feelings for Tanner. The years of guilt that she has piled onto him and his brothers have seen to that. There’s only so long that Tanner can be happy being his dirty little secret. It’s only when an accident occurs that Collin realises that keeping quiet is not an option if he wants them to be together.
The chemistry sparks off of the pages and I thought I was going to combust (multiple times!) these guys were so hot together *fans self*.
Sex aside, it’s a great story with an easy flow to it that makes it very more-ish and an absolute pleasure to read. KS’s writing style draws the reader in with her great cast of characters. It’s easy to picture in your mind what is going on and feel like (or wish that) you were there with them.
It ends with an HFN scene that will have you gagging for more but thankfully not shaking your fist in frustration and seeing as the next instalment is sitting waiting for me, I’m going to jump right on in there and see what’s going to happen in the next chapter of their lives. I cannot wait.
