My Paradise is You
Guest Post & Double Contest
When two very different men are stranded on a deserted island, will opposites attract, or will they end up killing each other—if the elements don’t get them first?
Marc Reed is an expert scuba diver and leads underwater tours of the infamous shipwrecks scattered around Bermuda. When a robbery forces him and his boss’s son—a man he despises on principle—to take shelter on an uncharted island, he might have to reassess his opinion of the spoiled snob.
Ian Blythe-Darcy II lives a life most would envy. He’s a trust-fund kid being groomed to take over his father’s empire of hotels and resorts. But it’s not a life that matches what’s in his heart. He’s in the closet and engaged to a socialite he doesn’t love, but he’s about to get a crash course in being true to himself—and maybe learn money can’t buy happiness after all.
World of Love: Stories of romance that span every corner of the globe.
Five must-have’s Marc would want if he were stranded on a deserted island for a second time –
While getting hammered isn’t the wisest thing to do when your life hangs in the balance on a deserted island, alcohol has benefits other than getting you drunk. It’s a disinfectant and can act as an analgesic for use when administering first aid. If he’s stranded with accident-prone Ian again, this will come in handy. But in all honesty, if Marc had to do the whole marooned thing over, he’d rather not suffer through it completely sober.
Living in the same shirt and swimsuit for ten days was less than ideal. Marc would much rather have a range of clothing that included pants and a light jacket for the cooler nights as well as a raincoat to keep him dry during random downpours. And fresh underwear is self-explanatory.
Marc loves the feel of paper books, but he’d settled for an e-reader of some kind loaded with his favorites as well as new releases to combat boredom—and a solar charger to keep the battery going. He loves thrillers and mysteries, but he seldom has time to read with his busy work schedule. So if he were stranded again, he’d love a chance to catch up on his reading.
While he’s sure there are many practical uses for lubricant, this would be a necessity if he were stuck again with Ian. Of course, that might mean he wouldn’t have a chance to catch up on that reading….
5. A fire starter
Despite his best efforts, he never quite got the hang of starting a fire by rubbing two sticks together. Thankfully, Ian had that covered or they might’ve frozen to death or risked food poisoning from raw lobster. A fire started would save him a lot of trouble… and energy he’d rather use to rub two different kinds of sticks together.
