Growing up the outcast in an infamous family of psychics, Nate Black never learned how to control his empath abilities. Then after five years without contact, his estranged twin turns up dead in New York City. The claim of suicide doesn’t ring true, especially when a mysterious vision tells Nate it was murder. Now his long-hated gift is his only tool to investigate.
Hitching from his tiny Texas town, Nate is picked up by Trent, a gorgeous engineer who thrives on sarcasm and skepticism. The heat that sparks between them is instant and intense, and Nate ends up trusting Trent with his secrets—something he’s never done before. But once they arrive in the city, the secrets multiply when Nate discovers an underground supernatural community, more missing psychics, and frightening information about his own talent.
Nate is left questioning his connection with Trent. Are their feelings real, or are they being propelled by abilities Nate didn’t realize he had? His fear of his power grows, but Nate must overcome it to find his brother’s killer and trust himself with Trent’s heart.
We are getting a new series from Santino. I havent any paranormal from him before but really love his contemporary stories.
In this story we get all the backstory about Nate and the Black family. This family is all psychics and what a crazy family it is. I will not not to give much of the story away. Nate is a twin and still lives in the same town that he grew up in. He was bullied and hurt badly but never left. He just goes through life not knowing what he is supposed to do or be. Nate feels his abilities arent worth anything. His brother left town and went to NY. Nate finds out his brother committed suicide and needs to go find out what really happened. Someone is sending him visions of his brother and his death. While hitch-hiking to NY, he meets Trent. Trent picks him up and gives him a ride to NY. While they are driving there they become close and start a relationship. Nate shares what is going on and Trent wants to help.
Once Nate gets to NY, his search sends him to a club. He learns that his brother was part a community of people with special abilities. There is alot of suspense and mystery in this story. Santino knows how to pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat. I really enjoyed trying to figure out what is going on. You dont see it coming but the ending is so good. The second book in this series looks like it is Holden’s story and I Cant wait to see what Santino has up his sleeve for this one. I am usually not into paranormal stories but Santino has me rethinking that too. Congrats
