Xander Griffith was mesmerized by Julian the moment he laid eyes on him in a club; he’s gorgeous, brilliant, and unabashedly himself. But when he discovers Julian is his good friend’s, off-limits, baby brother, he promptly drops Julian off at his parents’ house with a promise to call. Unfortunately, his life took a left-hand turn that night, and Xander was unable to keep that promise. When they meet again months later, they can’t be in the same room without bickering like small children, and both men wonder whether the person they’d fallen for that night was an illusion.
Julian Moore is at loose ends after getting his Master’s: he can’t start his government cybersecurity job until he gets high-level clearance, his boyfriend and best friend are far away, and even his dojo closed down. All the sparkly, snarky white-hat hacker does these days is read M/M romance novels and hang out with his brothers’ friends. Of course, that means bumping into that over-privileged, condescending jerk, Xander, at every freaking turn; the man would be completely insufferable if it wasn’t for his sweet, hat-loving dog, Cassius.
When Xander discovers Julian is deeply depressed, his protective instincts kick in and he puts together a plan to help his friend’s brother fight his way through the murky gloom. The first step? Move the brat into his condo! It seems like the perfect solution: he certainly has plenty of room, it gets Julian out of his parents’ house, his boxer is head-over-paws in love with Julian, and someone has to keep their friend’s pug from destroying all of Xander’s left shoes.
Instead of killing each other within the first twenty-four hours as predicted, Xander and Julian’s lives fit seamlessly together and both men soon realize their initial attraction may have been stronger, and deeper, than they thought.
I loved this book! Book two in the Moore Romance series and just as light hearted and funny as book one.
This book centres around Julian Moore and Xander Griffith who we were introduced to in book one. Julian is absolutely fabulous and I loved his attitude and outlook on life, he is out and proud and owns it. The two of them meet in a gay club where they have instant chemistry but once Xander realises Julian is Greg’s 21 year old younger brother he instantly drops him off at his parents house and tries to forget about him.
Fast forward three years later and Julian and Xander are constantly bickering and antagonising each other to mask their feelings for each other. Julian ends up moving in with Xander to try and cope with his depression and they inevitable get closer and fall in love. As with the first book this one is also very funny and had me laughing throughout. I loved that even when their relationship deepened Xander continued to call Julian ‘Brat’ albeit in a more loving manner and Julian continued to call Xander Iceman (Top Gun reference!). The puns involving Julian’s surname Moore were endless and I loved the ‘baby koala’ hugging!
There’s lots of fogs featured in this book and one hilarious doggy birthday party thrown by Julian. As with book one there are lots of secondary characters in this story and it was lovely to read about all he characters from book one and some new ones too.
I usually hate insta love and when book characters seem to fall in love very quickly and there was an element of that in this book however, it was do well written and interspersed with so much humour, puns and banter that I actually read through those sections happily.
Very sweet and funny read. Cannot wait to read the next one!
