Since putting his life on hold ten years ago, Oliver Clayton doesn’t know who he is anymore. To his clients at the hair salon, he’s the sassy and confident stylist. To the crowds who come to watch his drag act at the club, he’s the fierce and fabulous Miss Tique. He’s popular. Talented. Out, proud, and self-assured.
He’s also a good actor.
Sebastian Day is content with life’s easy, if not a little monotonous, routine. After several failed relationships, he likes the simplicity of being alone in his truck at his job as a heavy goods driver, spending the weekends with his teenage son, and putting the world to rights with his cat, Marv. He’s not lonely. He isn’t hiding.
At least…he doesn’t think he is until he meets the mesmerising stranger with the red hair and purple lips.
Can Oliver and Sebastian help each other embrace who they are? Or will a cruel twist of fate end their journey before it’s even begun?
Every book that I have read from Nicola has made me emotional. I find myself falling in love with each and every character she has written so far. Her writing is so good and she makes you feel for the struggles her characters go through from the first page. Her details are spot on and I feel like she writes from true life events.
Oliver and Sebastian are my new favorite couple from her.
Even though it was insta-love, I really enjoyed their journey. They just started dating when tragedy strikes and we get to see what these 2 men are made of. I felt the love from them from the first time they had to struggle until they get their HEA. This book wouldn’t have been as good with out the supporting characters. Oli and Seb’s best friends were supportive and funny when they needed to be and Seb’s son and Oli’s brother added to the story as well. The relationship that Oliver and Tyler had when they were younger and really growing up together was fun to read and they when Tyler got older and everything changed for awhile. I have to say when they start talking about the water bottle challenge between the 2 boys I couldn’t help but laugh because my children do the same thing.
Oliver’s story will make you cry and stand up and cheer for how strong of a human being he is. His story starts out so sad and you will root for this man from the beginning of this book until the end. He does what is right for his family even though he is holding back his own life.
Sebastian comes along at the right time when Oliver needs someone in his life. Sebastian is perfect for him because he is strong and supportive and doesn’t give up on Oliver. They get their HEA and it is so well deserved. Loved this story and would recommend to anyone. I am a sucker for a good tearjerker story.
