— He was not Prince Charming. He was the dragon to consume me. —
As the daughter of a mafia boss, I knew that keeping my head down meant staying alive.
So when my father arranged my marriage to a Sicilian mafioso, I smiled and nodded, hoping for a kind man.
But then my future husband’s cousin, Santo Villani, appears to pick me up for the wedding, and my life turns upside down, shattered by a kiss that shouldn’t have happened.
Arrogant, cocky, and yet irresistibly charming, he’s exactly the kind of man I shouldn’t be reaching out for. A dangerous mafioso who isn’t afraid to taste forbidden fruit.
I am torn between duty and passion, but my wedding is set in stone, so no matter which one of them wins, I will fall on their battlefield.
Blood & Marriage is a great addition to the Guns n’ Boys series. While it still had that air of danger and intrigue, it had a softer edge that rounded out Lucrezia and Santo’s story. This was a heart-rending read!
Lucrezia Bruni has an arranged marriage with the future Don of the Villanis, Seth. When she comes to meet her groom, however, she finds another man greeting her, one who kisses her and leaves her wanting more. She shouldn’t want him, though. She can’t. It’s too dangerous and could start a war between mafia families.
But being bad never felt so good.
Santo Villani is Seth’s cousin, and he’s farther down on the totem pole of the Villanis. When he gets an order, he follows it. Unfortunately, the only woman off limits to him is the only one he wants. Plots thicken when a Villani son wants Seth’s head and Seth’s wife. Can there be a future for Santo and Lucrezia?
I really enjoyed this one! It’s a M/F book in a series with all M/M books so far. I was expecting a darker romance, but this one had a slightly different feel to it. There is an immediate interest between Lucrezia and Santo and the forbidden aspect builds the tension perfectly. I like how they both admit to wanting the other. They don’t apologize for how they feel, and they both try to find ways to be together.
The mafia agenda–both hidden and known–develops, and oh, I really just wanted Lucrezia to finally have something she wants! Santo does as much as he can against the tight leash surrounding his neck. He’s gentle and kind, but still commanding and confident. All traits that Lucrezia needs. I love how Santo is determined to have her and just the way she is. Perfection!
I highly recommend this one for those who like a little mafia action with a devastatingly genuine romance. 4 stars!
