There’s never a dull moment at Metropolis…the condominium known for having the hottest openly gay tenants in town. The boys of Metropolis are always on the prowl for a good time. They like their drinks heavy and their tricks easy.
Gary should be living it up in his South Tower unit of Metropolis, but he’s having a hard time adjusting to his newly single status. It’s not easy to walk away from five years with his ex, who he discovered was cheating on him with some North Tower twink. After a night out partying, licking his wounds, he goes to bed alone. When he wakes the next morning, there’s a naked guy in his bed. Not just any guy. A stud from North Tower. But hot as he is, what the hell is he doing in his room?
Travis Waller doesn’t get why Gary’s freaking out. So he went home with Gary’s roommate and accidentally crawled into the wrong bed. It’s not the first time he’s woken up in a strange place. Maybe Gary would loosen up a little if he gave it a try as well. Travis has more important things to deal with though…like his meeting with an investor who could give him the money to start his massage parlor.
They’re both sure that’s the last time they’ll have to deal with each other until a mix-up leads Gary’s ex and Travis’s investor to think they’re an item, which Gary and Travis use to their benefit by posing as a couple around town. Soon, they discover the chemistry between them is off the charts. Travis brings out a sexual confidence Gary didn’t know he had—one Travis enjoys exploring with him. But as the two keep up their boyfriend hoax, Gary realizes Travis isn’t as shallow as he thought. Gary’s starting to develop feelings for him. But Travis doesn’t do relationships, and Gary should know better, considering they’re just faking it…
I really love these 2 writers. To me their writing style is so different but they work well together. Riley can write anything and I will read it. Devon is a fairly new author for me but to me all his books make me smile. Riley can write serious falling in love stories and Devon can write the light-hearted part of the story. I didn’t want to put this book down and found myself trying to read it straight through.
The issues of Gary and Travis are real even though where they live (in a gay mecca) are not.
Gary was cheated on by his boyfriend of 5 years, he has such low confidence, he isn’t sure what us next for him. He isn’t very social and doesn’t have a lot of friends out of his x boyfriends. His best friend Derek is there for him after the breakup and tries to get him to go out and have some fun. Gary doesn’t like to be the center of attention and just wants to wallow alone for awhile. Until he wakes up one morning to find a hot guy naked in his bed. Travis hooked up with Gary’s roommate the night before and thought he was going back to his bed but mistakenly (you will read why) ended up in Gary’s bed. They don’t talk when it happens and Travis apologizes and leaves. When Travis goes home to his condo, he best friend Cody tells him Gary’s story and Travis feels even worse about the mistake. Travis feels bad for what happened with Travis and wants to try to apologize again so when he sees him at a party he makes his move. He overhears Gary talking to see x boyfriend and decides to help him out by saying he and Gary are hooking up. Gary is taken back at first but then is happy to show his x that he is getting over what happened.
I love Travis, his personality is great. He isn’t sorry for who is and how he acts. He is who is he is and doesn’t care what anyone things of him. Now Travis’s only flaw in my eyes is he doesn’t let people in so he doesn’t get hurt. Travis’s parent didn’t accept that he was gay and cut him off. He had to make his way on his own. He has a job he loves and is trying to get his own business off the ground with out his families help. He has two brothers that still love him and want to be in his life. Travis has never been in love or in a real relationship. He loves sex and from reading this story you will see that he is so darn good at it that it made my toes curl. I suspect that that is Devon’s doing. Travis needs help schmoozing the man who will be fronting him the money for his business and he asks Gary if he can help. They decide to be fake boyfriends for both their benefit. Of course it starts out as just sex for them but Gary starts to have deeper feeling for Travis. Travis said up front that he doesn’t do relationships.
Gary and Travis spends so much time together that being fake boyfriends isn’t working anymore. Travis is finding himself falling for Gary too but he doesn’t want to get hurt so he fights it. He is helping Gary find his confidence and it is working. Now not to give the whole story away but the problems these 2 face are hard for both of them to see past. They need to get their heads out their butts and both take a chance. The way this story developed blew me away, I loved it. There was sweet works and hot love scenes, a perfect combo of Riley and Devon. I also think that where they live will continue to plan a big part in this series and in the lives of these characters. Congrats to both authors and they need to hurry up and get out book 2.
