One general, determined to destroy them both.
President Jack Spiers and former Secret Service Agent Ethan Reichenbach throw caution to the wind, committing themselves publicly as the first out male lovers and partners to occupy the White House. Jack moves Ethan into the Residence, but as Ethan settles into his new role as first gentleman of the United States, not everyone is thrilled with their choices. When it seems like the world turns against them, Jack and Ethan must turn to each other, finding the strength together to press on.
In the chaos, Jack’s relationship with the Russian president, Sergey Puchkov, grows closer, and the two nations find themselves working almost as allies. But President Puchkov has secrets of his own, secrets that could rip everything apart. And Ethan steps back into the action with Lieutenant Adam Cooper, taking charge of a covert kill team tasked with hunting down General Madigan once and for all.
But Madigan is elusive, and his dangerous reach is long. He strikes at Jack and Ethan from the shadowy corners of the globe, unraveling their entire world. As the mad general draws new allies together, he is single-minded in his quest to destroy the only two men who ever beat him.
He will stop at nothing until Jack and Ethan are shattered men, worlds apart, and struggling to get back to one another.
And after that, Madigan’s true revenge begins…”
Review: “EPIC! Blew book one right out of the water!
When I read book one Enemies of the State and encountered my first WTF Over the Top scene I knew to suspend reality. I knew I had in my hand a book that was meant to entertain, speak to my thrill seeking adventure bone and make me awe when the hero gets the guy. You know, your typical James Bond film and seriously who doesn’t love Bond?
I popped some popcorn and settled in for what I already knew would be a whirl wind adventure. Enemy of my Enemy is adventure perfection! This installment is more action packed and the exotic locations have surpassed those in book 1! Ethan, his team and Jack face greater danger than what they dealt with in Book 1. I expected that. What made me a gelatinous mess were the multiple nail biting twists/ turns mild melting Holy crap moments that surpassed my OTP expectations. I was not prepared for how deep the rabbit hole goes.
I’ll try to not ruin the story for you and only advise that you strap yourself in for an unbelievable epic adventure. I for one never worried about Jack and Ethan’s relationship. Book 1 pretty much indicated they would be together and fight by each others side. Book 2 focuses on Madigan’s endgame and the relationships of the supporting characters we’ve grown to love.
So why 4.5 stars? Well, it’s simple.Yes the blurb says “… The Madigan’s revenge begins.” Which is as good as stating this would be a cliffhanger but nonetheless, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS! I didn’t expect it and I am NOT a patient person. If I knew there was a cliffhanger I would have held off reading this installment mainly because the world Tal Bauer built is very detailed and features various well written developed characters. It’s easy to forget important plots and or characters. I read 1 & 2 back to back but I know I will most likely have to reread this book before embarking on book 3 due in March 2017.
I ate my popcorn, spilled a few handfuls a couple of times and silently cursed Tal Bauer when I got to the end 🙂
Read this series. It will keep you on your toes. Fall in love with these guys like I did. You won’t regret it :)”
