Kinks and More…
While some people enjoy being very open about their fetishes and less-typical hobbies
many kinks often hide in plain sight. Items or situations that are completely neutral to most of the population have a different meaning to those who fetishize them. A perfectly innocent item of clothing can be a sexual trigger, as can physical punishment or having power over others, or really anything else. There really isn’t a single thing we could name that could not become sexualized.
I started thinking about this in the context of a character from our paranormal biker series, Kings of Hell MC. In Laurent and the Beast and My Dark Knight, Jake had been introduced as a young prospect whose dedication goes beyond what would normally be expected of someone in his position. If you’re not familiar with the hierarchy within biker clubs, it’s easiest to understand prospecting as a probationary period for a membership candidate. To prove his devotion to the club and reliability, prospects are expected to always be on call and do all kinds of dirty jobs, without questioning the club members. They’re also often an object of ridicule and hazing, which is a test of their mental endurance, and serves bonding the prospect to the club.
But Jake is ready to go far beyond that. He not only follows his orders and takes the usual torment without even a shadow of complaint but actually seeks out more work. It makes him proud that the bikes and leather boots of his betters are polished to perfection. He also has sex with the members, which wouldn’t have been all that strange (even if morally questionable due to the imbalance of power) if it wasn’t for the way he frames it in his mind.
Jake sees the sexual favors as a sign of respect. At least that is what he tells himself, but his motivations is questionable given the fact that he doesn’t want to sleep with anyone else. When his most frequent partner, Knight, becomes unavailable after starting a monogamous relationship, instead of hooking up with some local hottie, Jake becomes sexually frustrated. What is really going on?
The truth is that Jake is lying to himself, and in the upcoming third book in the series, On your Knees, Prospect!, he will have to face the side of his sexuality he does not acknowledge. As a natural submissive, Jake easily accepted his role within the hierarchy and everything that came with it. Being a low-ranked member of the group allowed him to fulfill his needs (both sexual and not), offering an outlet that was both safe and (in his eyes) socially acceptable.
But Jake’s time as a prospect is coming to an end, and the arrival of Vars, a new candidate for full membership at the Kings of Hell Motorcycle Club, rattles Jake’s world even more. Twice Jake’s age, way more experienced, Vars exudes a dominant energy that confuses Jake when it’s coming from someone who within the club setting is Jake’s junior.
Their explosive chemistry will force Jake to face his demons and understand what he truly wants from sex and his partners. Only when that happens, he will be able to leave behind fear and shame that had taunted him all his life.
Jake’s been itching to become a patched member of the
Kings of Hell MC for years.
For two years he’s toiled as the only prospect. So when a new guy swans in and thinks he’ll get a patch in no time just because he’s got friends in high places, Jake is there to show him hell.
Only that the guy is older, more experienced, drives a Harley, and has the kind of boots Jake is ready to lick.
But he won’t.
Because he only fucks patches.
