He yelled those words at the love of his life twelve years ago, and to this day, Reed Hail regrets them. He’s always been the type of person to speak before he thinks, and apologies have never come easy.
It’s been over a decade since she was his, and he stubbornly thinks that he can keep on living without her.
He couldn’t be more wrong.
The last thing he needs is her vagina anywhere near his exam table. But nobody ever asks him what he wants.
Maybe he should’ve gone into the auto-recovery business after all.
I hate you.
Krisney Shaw would take those words back in a heartbeat if she could. In fact, she would take back everything.
Never meeting him would be the perfect place to start. The memory of Reed Hail haunts her—morning, noon, and night.
Then, to add insult to injury, she has to see him being happy while she’s breaking a little more inside every single day.
Reed Hail is her worst nightmare because she’s constantly reminded of exactly what she’s missing—the other half of her soul.
Just when she thinks things can’t get worse, she’s sees his sexy, bearded face over the top of her paper gown, and she’s lost all over again.
Don’t ever let me go.
Both Reed and Krisney are determined to avoid each other. They do a great job of it, too…not.
One ill-timed gynecological exam changes everything. One single second in time shows Reed what he’s missing—literally and figuratively—and suddenly he’s back at square one.
The only problem with being back at square one? He won’t be able to leave her a second time.
Especially since the first time around he didn’t have a child with her to consider.
Oh, HAIL no. Did you see that cover??? Holy hotness. If I hadn’t already wanted to read this book the cover model would have made me read about him. I love this cover model and he fits the bill of Reed Hail perfectly. This is book 5 in the Hail Raisers series and it has a crossover with The Dixie Wardens. Who could ask for more? Ms. Vale never not once has disappointed me. This a great second chance romance.
You get all the hot Hail brothers in this book including Tobias Hail from Beard Up and For the Love of Beard. We even get a glimpse of the elusive Dante. Now there is the book I want to read. The tragedy in that book is in this book as well. It’s the reason for Reed being the way he is with Krisney. Such a heartbreaking backstory. Now as with all of Ms. Vale’s books I have come to depend on one thing only. After that everything is an added bonus. I love her inner thoughts of the main people in the opening part of the chapter. It’s one of my favorite things. Even when the book is heavy there is a light that starts it. My review is really hard to write. I have so much to say but I don’t want to give anything away.
Krisney is strong and very independent. She graduated high school and hightailed it out of town to join the army just to get away from her parents. She comes from money but is too proud to use what was left to her. She wants to make it on her own.
Reed is strong, determined and a sexy OB/GYN to boot. He was in the Army as well. Reed knew what he wanted in life and took it.
Krisney and Reed and the rest of the Hail siblings, along with her brother Jay all grew up together. When the two meet that is when Krisney’s life changes. They had a great bond back then and it continued to grow. Jay and Tobias were the best of friends. The unbeknownst to all tragedy strikes and all hell breaks loose. There are things going on that we have no idea about. It gave me pause as I wasn’t expecting it. When the tragedy hits the families that’s when Reed makes it known he no longer wants to be with Krisney. Even though it wasn’t her fault I get where it came from. I think it went a bit too far.
My heart broke for the families in this story. Though, is about growth and moving on and acceptance. The supporting people are good. There were times Reed needed his behind handed to him. He was giving me whiplash. Krisney was everything she needed to be. She is determined to make it on her own and live the dreams she had when she was younger and made them with Reed. Even though these two people hadn’t been together in years and years they were close by yet so far. They followed each other’s lives and still loved each other deeply. There was this one point that my heart hurt so about for Krisney.
This is a great book all around and you won’t be disappointed if you read it all. There were laughs, think laundromat. There was sadness, lust, drama and angst love and family. Can’t wait to read the next installment…Dante. His story is pulling me in and it is so intriguing and I have only gotten bits and pieces of it so far. I am waiting for that one the most I think.
Come along for this fun wild ride.
