Just one short season ago, major league center fielder John Roper had it all: the looks—and personal life—of a sports hero and the public’s adoration. But this hot property’s lucky streak has run out. After a World Series disaster, fans diss him, shock jocks mock him and his dysfunctional family hassles him for money he really can’t spare.
Now it’s up to him, and Hot Zone publicist Amy Stone, to get his life back on track.
Amy finds it’s easier said than done. What with the constant intrusions of his nutty family, a crazed fan playing stalker, and Roper’s refusal to put his own needs first, she’s starting to think that life in the fast lane isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. But when the two retreat to a secluded lodge, the sexy center fielder throws Amy a curveball—one she never saw coming.…
There is something about this author that keeps me coming back for more. The stories and the characters are a joy to get to know. In this series, we find four strong women. Three of them are sisters. The fourth becomes part of the family by association. Although the series is said to be four stand-alone stories I believe that the series should be read in order from book one, Hot Stuff then book 2, Hot Number book 3, Hot Item and finally book 4, Hot Property. At a young age, the three sisters find themselves in the care of their bachelor Uncle, Yank Morgan when their parents were killed in a plane crash. Now the girls are partners in the PR firm representing some of the hottest men in the sports world alongside their matchmaking Uncle who can’t stop himself from meddling in his niece’s love lives. After Uncle Yank has married off his three girls, he has set his sights on the niece of his business partner, Amy Stone. We met Amy in book 3. We learned about her crazy aunt and mother. We also learned about her connection to Spencer Atkins, Amy’s Uncle and co-owner of the Hot Zone PR firm. There are many characters in this series and once introduced they make appearances in future books. This is why I strongly recommend reading the books in order.
The plot of Hot Property is about Uncle Yank’s plan to bring Amy together with baseball sensation John Roper. Amy is the firm’s new publicist and John is a client needing his image cleaned up. They first meet at the wedding of Yank’s youngest niece’s wedding. There is an instant attraction, but the spark is quickly extinguished when John’s date for the wedding makes her presence known. Fast forward and Amy is now living in New York working at the PR firm and her first client is John Roper. John’s life is out of sync. He is blamed for his team losing the world series. He was injured during that dreadful game and may not be ready for spring training. His family is sucking the life out of him. He has a sports reporter on a personal vendetta to destroy his reputation. Not to mention an irate fan sending him threatening mail. The chemistry between John and Amy is unstoppable. The more Amy fights the attraction the harder she falls. This book is on the long side, but it reads quickly with crazy antics from the family of both John and Amy. This story has a great in your face happy ever after ending. Strong character development, but it takes place over the entire series making it hard for me to believe that this is truly a stand alone novel. I think that if I had not read the series in order I would have been lost.
